Are you planning to move out your present house? Take the burden out of packing through making it very manageable.
Start early in packing so that you are not rushed to get it done before the big moving day comes. Make sure that you have quality packing materials to work with. The boxes should be strong and durable. Use durable tape to reinforce the bottoms and to seal the tops when you are already done.
For items that can be broken you want to use lots of packing materials. You can use newspaper, bubble wrap, towels and other items to ensure nothing will be broken when unpack at your new destination. Clearly mark on each box what types of items are in it and which room of the new house it will belong in. You will be glad you did when you are hunting for particular items at your new home.
Always pay attention to the overall weight of a given box as you pack it. You do not want it to be too heavy to lift. You also do not want to risk it breaking from the bottom due to the weight. You can get the most out of your boxes by placing some heavy items at the bottom and then some lighter ones to finish filling it to capacity.
Start by packing items you do not usually use every day. Take pictures down off the walls and ornaments out of shelves. Pack your photo albums and even clothing that is out of season. Go through each room in your home and pack up as many items you can that you won’t need to access between now and when you move. Make a goal to pack up several boxes each day in the weeks before you move.
There is no reason to pack them up if you have not been using them. Make piles of items such as those that need to go into the trash and those that can be donated or recycled. Get rid of any clutter as you go and you will find your packing efforts are really starting to be effective.
Find a place where you can stack the packed boxes when you are done with them. This can be in the corner of each room as you go. It can also be in your garage so that they are completely removed from your home. This is a good idea if you are showing your home to potential buyers as well.
Stay organized and work on the process a bit at a time so you would not be in the rush to just pile things into a box.
