
People nowadays are trying to find the perfect place for them to live and build their families. We all have different priorities but for sure everyone is thinking that the place should have jobs, low crime rates, affordable homes and low cost of living. Money Magazine listed the best small towns where all these thrive. Let’s give you the top 10 :
1. Louisville, CO – has a population of 18,800. It has an unemployment rate of 6.0% and the estimated single-family house costs $325,000.00. We love its great outdoors, best for your family. Plus let’s add in dry, clear weather, little crime, good health care and low taxes.
2. Chanhassen, MN – this genuine small town has a low crime rate, good fiscal strength, and lots of park and lakes. The thing we don’t like is that it has strong winters and a scant nightlife. With an unemployment rate of 6.1% its not that bad.
3. Papillion, NE – This County’s unemployment rate lands on 4.5% percent because of the diverse jobs that they offer. Housing is also affordable a typical single-family house costs only $200,000.00. Did you also know that 30% of this town is green space?
4. Middleton, WI – this was 2007’s #1 and now lands at #4. We love their downtown that has all the restaurants, boutiques and shops that you need. It is a small town that probably has it all. It also has a very good school system.
5. Milton, MA- Only a short commute from Boston, this city is full of historic homes, gardens and playgrounds. Crime rate is very low and the unemployment rate falls on 6.8%. It also has good schools and elementary that offers French immersion starting first grade.
6. Warren, NJ – it has 72 working farms but has no real downtown. The culture is rich and the town is very diverse. Many of them work at NYC but there are also a lot of jobs in their city although they have pricey homes.
7. Keller, TX – This town that boasts a new town center and amazing parks has very affordable homes. It has a strong economy keeping this as our #7. Unemployment rate is 5.8% and according to them, they don’t really feel the recession there. C’mon lets all go!!
8. Peachtree City, GA – This town has an excellent school system and…. Lots of golf cart paths. Yes even children sometimes use golf carts to go to school. While keeping the crime rate low, they have a not-so-low unemployment rate of 7.4%
9. Lake St. Louis, MO – This low crime rate town boasts lots of activities for your family to enjoy. Although for you to enjoy it, you need to join the Community Association. It has affordable homes but a fairly high unemployment rate. And since GM is near their town, probably the lay offs will affect it more.
10. Mukilteo, WA – This town has good schools and scores some natural and green beauty. It also benefits from Seattle’s diverse job market and it is said to be a picturesque waterfront community. It has some heavy rains but hey there are low property taxes here.
