There are many reasons for resistance to prospecting; one solution does not fit all.

Here are three approaches to help Realtors overcome prospecting reluctance or resistance:

1. The visceral approach.

This relates to the feeling you get in your body when you think about going prospecting. For instance, if you feel reprehensible when you experience rejection, you might feel a knot in your stomach when you think about prospecting.

The vital facet of the visceral approach is to focus on the feeling, not the reason.

2. The prospecting personality approach.

There are a lot ways to do prospecting. It behooves a real estate agent to find what feels good to them and work it, even if…

The amount of people planning to buy a home increased a little in December, a positive sign heading into the spring home buying season.

The National Association of Realtors stated on Tuesday that its seasonally adjusted index of sales agreements increased 1 percent from November to December to a reading of 96.6. That was a bit lower than the 97.1 level analysts expected, according to Thomson Reuters.

The index has gone up for nine out of the past 10 months as buyers work to take advantage of an $8,000 first-time homebuyer tax credit.

The credit had been set to expire November 30 before Congress extended it to April 30. Lawmakers also added a…

Another company was forced to streamline its operations by shutting down 11 real estate offices in less than two years time due to the sad state of the real estate industry. However, there’s a twist to that since the company did so without shedding a single agent. The RE/MAX Dolphin found a way to reduce the overhead costs of maintaining an office while still retaining their agents by resorting to a mobile real estate office.

RE/MAX Dolphin agents are now armed with laptops, Blackberrys and portable printers. And instead of giving out calling cards with their office address, these agents instead rendezvous with their clients in restaurants, homes, coffee shops and…

Realtors, mortgage lenders and homebuilders slammed the Obama administration’s proposal to roll back the itemized deduction rate for wealthy taxpayers. This includes deductions that can be claimed by homeowners on their mortgage interest payments as well as other homeownership-associated expenses. The administration said capping by 28% the itemized deductions for wealthy families and individuals would raise $318 billion in 10 years time. This can result to lower health care costs and expanded health insurance coverage.

The proposed changes, which will only take effect in 2011, will apply only to families with earnings over $250,000 and individuals with earnings of over $200,000. This number is in fact less than 4% of taxpayers…

This pledge came at a time when the president released the guidelines for the modification of mortgage and refinancing. The guideline is for immediate implementation in order to help both the struggling homeowners as well as those who have stayed current in the payment of their mortgages.

He said NAR has long called for a multipronged approach in addressing the crisis that has hit the housing…

Times are hard and the real estate market is down. Tell that to realtor Pamela Ryan of Kelly Price & Co in Winter park and she will prove you wrong with her nearly $24 million income in property sales for 2008. Ryan, who has been named the company’s top agent for the year, has been with the company since 2002.  Ryan’s $23.7 million sales last year however merely stands below the $30 million sales volume she achieved in 2005. She has achieved up to $5 million in individual property sales last 2008.

Ryan specializes in properties within the Maitland and Winter Park markets. Company founder Kelly Price said Ryan is considered…

When you feel that real estate brokers, mortgage bankers and other real-estate related professionals are just looking after their vested interest, hire a lawyer instead.  You can somehow be assured that your best interest is being looked after.

In Florida where cases of foreclosures have soared, residents especially those living in the South are now seeking the services of lawyers. This is what the Central Florida Real Estate Council has noticed.  However, this practice is not yet widely adopted in Central Florida.

Well, hiring legal counsel at the start of any real estate transaction would be a lot less costly than taking action late when deals have already turned from bad to worse especially now…

The former Guns N’ Roses guitarist Rocker Slash has been given the go signal to sue Sotherby’s International Realty and agent Gregoy Holcomb for allegedly deceiving him and his wife Perla of the actual size of  their former 5,539-square-foot house in  Los Angeles Hollywood Hills. The couple also claimed that the brokers failed to make it clear to them that the house is on a public street where parking is restricted.

The realtor sold Slash the Spanish-style mansion on the 1.76-acre, L-shaped property at 1924 Wattles Drive in the Hollywood Hills in December 2005 for $6,250,000.  Slash and Perla lost a substantial amount of money when they sold the property to…
