Homeowners can now apply for grants to cover their expenses for energy efficient needs under the Bungalow energy$avers Program. A total of $2,000 can be saved by homeowners per year on their bills for lighting, heating and cooling with basic energy conversation steps as proven by the success of the three Green Bungalow Blocks. Homeowners who wish to apply for the grant should certify their bungalows with the Historic Chicago Bungalow Association to qualify. The certification application should be supported by front and rear photos of your bungalows.

Residents of Canaan Homes are getting a facelift for their homes in line with the Earth Day celebration. The Earth Day makeover is part of the Kentucky Clean Energy Corps which will benefit more than a dozen houses and one of those is owned by Odell and Flora Runyon. The Runyon home had been living in their century-old home which could not even protect them from the cold.

Green real estate may take more dollars to build but ultimately these green buildings become more feasible later on as they attract higher occupancy rate. This was confirmed by CoStar Group which reported a high occupancy rate for buildings with Energy Star or LEED certifications. CoStar group, which provides commercial real estate information, recently released a study involving billions of square feet of commercial buildings.
